The Battle of New Orleans Bicentennial Commission was created to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the final major battle of the War of 1812. Victory at the Battle of New Orleans on Jan. 8, 1815 secured independence for the United States from the British.
The Commission plans to mark this anniversary through education and celebratory programs with respect to all who fought in this decisive battle.
