New Orleans Black Indians Alliance

Big Chief Clarence A. Dalcour, Creole Osceola and Big Chief Charles Taylor, White Cloud Hunters both had a vision of putting on a Grand Ball to celebrate and acknowledge Black Indians past and present. They shared that vision with Big Chiefs Darryl J, Montana, Yellow Pocahontas and Roderick Sylvas, Wild Tchoupitoulas. The founding Chiefs vision of a Black "Masking" Indian Ball of Grandeur was the initial conversation; however, it evolved into a discussion centered on the need to bring unity to the masking tradition, to strengthened the community, and foster culture and economic sustainability for all Black Masking Indian Nations. It was agreed upon that the Black Masking Indians had more to offer to the community and culture than just parades. The time had come for tribes to unite and form an "Alliance". to begin building a foundation to preserve history, culture, and tradition. More importantly, to build an "Alliance" that would ensure economic opportunities and growth for present and future Black Masking Indians. On March 28, 2014, being of one mind, by animous vote, the New Orleans Black Indians Alliance (NOBIA) was established.
